Arecibo (Puerto Rico) Mission Trip Report
Sullivan Family, 2015
Praise God with us! He empowered us through his Spirit to share the good news with many people this summer in Arecibo, Puerto Rico. Thank you all for your generosity in sending us there and praying for us. God has answered our prayers!
The best thing that happened was the baptism of our son, Caleb. He was joined with Christ in baptism in a waterfall on July 4, 2015. It was our country’s independence day, and it is now his personal independence day from sin
The first half of our time with the church was spent building a Christian camp in the mountains. We helped prepare the footings of the first large building on the site, a girls dormitory. May God use that camp to build up his church in Puerto Rico and introduce new people to the gospel.
The last half of our trip was spent with the Arecibo Church of Christ (Iglesia de Christo) at VBS. We invited all the neighbors around the church building, and over 60 children and teens came. Heidi and Holly helped with the 5 to 7 year old class, and Stephen, Caleb and I worked with the teenage class (14 to 16 year olds). We fed the students breakfast and lunch, sang and played games with them, and taught them the gospel of Jesus Christ.
We didn’t expect to make such close friends in such a short time, but the kids stole our hearts. There were many tears on the last day of VBS as we said goodbye. God opened our hearts to them, and theirs to us.
We could not have done this without your support, encouragement, and prayers. Thank you! We are full of gratitude to you and to God.
Grace and peace in Christ
Shane, Heidi, Stephen, Holly, and Caleb Sullivan
